Equa Bank, a Czech bank focused on personal and corporate banking, decided to automate identity management and replace manual processes with a modern IDM solution integrated with the Jira ticketing system. At the time of implementation (2018), the bank managed nearly 370,000 clients, operated 58 branches, and had hundreds of users with varying levels of access.
Initial Situation
Identity management within the bank was not handled optimally. The main challenges were:
- extensive amount of manual work;
- no straightforward reconciliation process;
- Jira ticketing system used as the central component for identity management;
- tickets processed manually by IT administrators;
- the actual state of identities derived from completed ticket records.
Solution
Equa Bank selected Orchitech as its supplier partly because of its ability to deliver a proof of concept within a short timeframe directly in the bank’s environment, including integration with selected systems.
Based on the proposed solution, Equa Bank gained confidence in Orchitech’s technical capabilities, as well as in the reliability and robustness of the Wren:IDM product.
The bank chose Wren:IDM due to its clarity, wide range of connectors, flexibility, and the fact that it is an open-source solution. The implementation was preceded by a detailed analysis of the bank’s environment conducted by the supplier.
Although the IDM requirements were clearly defined from the outset, minor adjustments were made during deployment. Orchitech remained flexible and frequently proposed more suitable solutions than those originally defined.

Benefits of the New IDM Solution
Overall, hundreds of identities and thousands of professions, positions, and roles were migrated into the IDM system. The new solution delivered:
- easier and faster identity management;
- more secure and transparent identity lifecycle;
- automated approval workflows;
- reduced errors in creating new identities thanks to the “four-eyes principle”.
