EUNIS–CZ Conference in Špindlerův Mlýn 2024

30. 5. 2024

Orchitech had the honor of presenting a solution developed for the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice at the main EUNIS-CZ conference, held from May 27 to May 29, 2024 in Špindlerův Mlýn under the title “Universities in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”.

The conference, organized annually by EUNIS-CZ, serves as a forum for showcasing current technologies and creates a space for sharing hands-on experience with their implementation. The event is primarily intended for university staff responsible for IT infrastructure management, leadership, and administration.

For the conference, our Technical Director, Pavel Horal, prepared a presentation on the topic “Multi-Source Authentication Not Only for IdM and Password Changes,” which fit perfectly into the conference track “An anthill of campus identities.”

The University of South Bohemia manages multiple types of identities with different lifecycles. Meeting the NIS2 requirements for authentication and enabling secure password resets created a need for authentication against multiple sources, each requiring different levels of verification. In the presentation, we introduce the University of South Bohemia’s approach to implementing multi-source authentication.

This approach supports several Shibboleth IdPs (both with and without Single Sign-On) and also connects to external identity sources such as NIA and Bank ID. The key component of the solution is a reverse proxy, which relieves end applications from the demands of complex integration.

We would like to thank Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (UJEP) for the invitation and the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice for their consultations.
